Diffusion Coatings

Diffusion coatings take elemental additives, diffuse them into the surface of your material and create a new harder, more impervious surface. Carbiding, nitriding and boriding, where you take a metal and create a simple transition metal compound of your substrate on its surface are examples of diffusion coatings. Given the right material environmental system, a diffusion coating may be just right for your needs.
